Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition ensures meeting varied needs of an enterprise with respect to data integration.

  • Data warehousing and business intelligence – thanks to high volume and performance of loading of data warehouses, data marts, OLAP cubes, and analytical applications, Oracle Data Integrator transparently handles incremental data loading and slow dimension changes, data integrity and consistency management, and analyses data origins.
  • Big Data – thanks to the embedded integration with Big Data technologies such as Spark, Pig, HDFS, Hive, HBase, or Sqoop, enterprises can utilize additional data sources that were previously too big and complicated to bring benefits. Oracle provides integration of Big Data technologies using a metadata-based process while allowing data integration resources to effortlessly manage extraction, loading, and transformation of big data.

E-LT architecture for high performance

E-LT architecture (extract, load, transform) of Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition uses separate relational database management systems (RDBMS) or Big Data engines to process and transform data. This optimizes performance and scalability while reducing total costs of the solution.

Instead of depending on a separate, conventional ETL transformation server, Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition’s E-LT architecture generates native code for separate RDBMS or Big Data engines (e.g. SQL, HiveQL, PySpark, Pig Latin, or bulk loader scripts). The E-LT architecture extracts data from separate sources and loads them into the target system and performs transformations using the database itself or the Hadoop system. By using an existing database and Big Data infrastructure, Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition provides the highest performance and low maintenance costs. By limiting network traffic and transforming data on the server containing target data, the E-LT architecture guarantees the highest possible performance.

Support for heterogeneous systems

Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition supports heterogeneous external platforms, data sources, and data warehousing tools. Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition is optimized for Oracle Database for the purpose of data transfer operations as part of E-LT, transformation, data quality, and standardization operations. It is also fully optimized for mixed technologies, including mixed source and target systems, applications, etc.

Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition 12c introduces a new declarative user interface based on network flows to streamline and improve the user’s work efficiency. The new user interface combines the simplicity and ease of use of a declarative approach with extensibility of configurable flows. This combination ensures simplification of use cases for common integration and data deployment, shortening implementation time. Data integration designers describe source and target data formats and data integration processes. Business users and developers can therefore focus on what data to integrate, and not how to do it. Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition generates, deploys, and manages code required to implement these processes in different source and target systems.

The paradigm is also extended with the ability to seamlessly reuse data mapping logic during development, providing developers with an easier and more efficient technique for preparing integration solutions.

Knowledge modules provide flexibility and extensibility

Knowledge modules constitute the core of the Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition architecture. They make all processes in Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition modular, flexible, and extensible.

Knowledge modules implement actual data flows and define templates for generating code for various systems participating in each data integration process.

Knowledge modules are generic, because they allow generating data flows regardless of transformation rules. At the same time, they have a very specific nature, because the code they generate and the implemented integration strategy are accurately tailored for a given technology. Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition provides an extensive library of Knowledge Modules that can be tailored for the purpose of implementing existing best practices, from using heterogeneous source and/or target system, to methodologies for obtaining the best performance, to maintain compatibility with corporate standards, or for knowledge bases in hierarchical organizations.

Enterprise deployment for high availability and scalability

Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition integrates with Oracle Fusion Middleware as a platform. Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition provides runtime environment components as Java EE applications, appropriately extended to fully utilize the capabilities of Oracle WebLogic and Oracle Coherence. Components of Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition have unique properties for enterprise-wide deployments, high availability, scalability, and high level of security.

High availability (HA) and scalability are fully supported by clustered deployments of Java EE components. Components of Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition deployed on Oracle WebLogic Server take advantage of clustering capabilities for the purpose of scalability, including the creation of JDBC connection pool and load balancing. Moreover, in addition to HA capabilities inherited by clusters, the runtime environment agent also supports a connection retry mechanism for the purpose of transparent recovery of sessions running in repositories, stored in database engines with HA capability, e.g. Oracle RAC.

Unifying administration and management

Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition simplifies complex data-oriented deployments by improving visibility and control features for a unified set of management interfaces.

The Edition Console of Oracle Application Development Framework utilizes the Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF) and Ajax to streamline user experience. Using the console, users in production departments can configure the environment, export and import repositories, manage runtime operations, monitor sessions, diagnose errors, view design mode artefacts, and create data origins reports.

Furthermore, this interface seamlessly integrates with the console of Oracle Enterprise Manager Fusion Middleware Control and allows the administrator to use a single screen to monitor not only data integration components, but also other Fusion Middleware components.

To provide the highest value of Oracle Data Integrator, Oracle also offers a Management Pack plug-in for Oracle Data Integrator. It utilizes advanced management capabilities of Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control to provide integrated, comprehensive solutions for Oracle Data Integrator environments, ensuring consolidated view of the entire Oracle Data Integrator infrastructure, and allowing the user to centrally monitor and manage all components from Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control.
